Nymphaea Couture
Rainbow Curve Corsetry
Meet the designer
Joni Steinmann
Welcome! I am the designer of the luxury couture label Nymphaea. Originally from the Netherlands but now settled for good in Ireland. I have 9 years experience in creating unique corsetry ensembles for a range of clients in the Netherlands and abroad.
I now work from my home atelier in the Irish countryside. Here I create my wearable art. I am known for my creative, otherworldly style and eye for detail. All pieces are designed, created, and hand embellished by me a one woman business. Through colourful, high-quality materials and workmanship, I offer bespoke fashion to clients of any body type.

I know what it is like to wear a bespoke bride's dress, as for my wedding I was unable to find what I was looking for in conventional wedding shops. I ended up having my gown made for me in the UK. I personally really enjoyed the whole process so I hope to be able to pass that precious experience on to my clients.

I love working with handdyed high-end fabrics like silk, Chantilly lace and coutil. There is nothing quite like the rustle of real silk. My specialty lies in corseted ensembles. Corsets are no longer only lingerie, but can be a beautiful statement pieces for any special occasion.
My bridal and evening gowns are unique with signature fantasy flair that would not be out of place in any fantasy novel.

My aesthetic is colourful & detailed. The designs are inspired by Art Nouveau, Victorian & Edwardian fashion, nature, and high fantasy, and are created with a touch of otherworldly magic. I love to make my clients feel beautiful like fairy tale princesses! I hope that my work can rekindle your childlike longing for the realm of fantasy, making magic real once more.

The predecessor label to Nymphaea Couture ; Rainbow Curve Corsetry was founded in 2015 in Dirkshorn. I am trained as a textile conservator, but always had a passion for alternative fashion and geeky hobbies. I longed to be able to express my creativity more fully, but my trained profession did not offer the outlet I desired despite getting to study wonderful historical garments. Eventually I could no longer ignore the urge to create, after following a corsetry course taught by Annet from La Garotte corsets. Visiting the 2015 Oxford Conference of Corsetry pushed me forward to launch Rainbow Curve Corsetry, turning a craft and passion into a fashion label.

My Atelier & The Dream
Ever since I studied in Ireland I have dreamed of returning to Ireland and owning an Artist's cottage in the picturesque Irish countryside. In 2021 that dream became a reality. The relocation from the Netherlands by way of Switzerland meant starting over again and again. It seemed the right time for a rebrand - Rainbow Curve Corsetry became Nymphaea Couture.
My husband and 4 cats* moved to the North Cork countryside to start a design studio and farm in Ireland and live a different pace of life among nature.
For now my studio consists of a smallish room upstairs in the cottage - nothing fancy. However the dream is in time to build a garden atelier that will fuel my artistic inspiration and allow for expansion of my creative endeavors.
* Disclaimer; Yes this means (for now at least) my garments are made in a cat friendly house. Although every care is taken my cats stay out of my studio, they live in the same building. Which means, for now, I cannot entirely guarantee a cat (hair) free experience.
